Solvent Systems International has been focused on helping industry and the environment to better coexist for over 25 years. Founded in 1983, SSI is based in Illinois and is privately held.

One notable business relationship we have is with the Waste Management Research Center (WMRC) at the University of Illinois. We work with the WMRC to help expand the state-of-the-art in pollution prevention technologies and to help industry implement these innovations.

Given the events and economics of our world and our passionate philosophy of pollution prevention, we are expanding our business into the manufacturing of bio-products. This growing industry is leading the way to a sustainable and renewable future for our country. For our manufacturing facility, we are collecting used vegetable oil from restaurants as an input. Our innovative manufacturing process produces a consistent high quality output from a variety of input sources. And you will be assured that your used vegetable oil is going to make bio-products that help U.S. industry and reduce our nation's petroleum demand.

Award-Winning Innovation

For our patented Grease Gator Aqueous Parts Washer System, we received the IL Governors Award, a Chicago Innovation Award, and were recognized by "Under the Radar", a publication by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Alumni organization.

Eliminating Waste is Our Specialty

One illustration of our work in this area is a patented binder material which we licensed to one of the largest scrap metal processors in the United States. This binder material enables the production of block iron out of metal fillings, a waste product from many industries, and is helping reclaim tons of material a year that previously was landfilled.
