Hero is Sustainability in a Bottle Sustainability is a new way of thinking about an age-old concern: ensuring that our children and grandchildren inherit a tomorrow that is at least as good as today, preferably better. To achieve sustainability there must be a balance between resources used and resources regenerated. The viability, integrity, and diversity of natural systems must be restored and maintained. Sustainability is about families, communities, and society as well as air, water, and earth. Sustainability also is inescapably about economics, because the economy is the means by which we, as individuals, relate to our natural and social environments. Sustainability helps each generation preserve the legacies of future generations and is the broadest, most inclusive conception of environmental protection or stewardship. Hero satisfies all of these requirements of sustainability. Read more about the importance of sustainability. Hero is USDA BioPreferred Certified The Federal Government is taking the lead in the market for biobased products. An Executive Order now requires government organizations to buy biobased products when possible to help not only the environment but to expand the market for farm products. The United States Department of Agriculture has defined the biobased percentages that products must meet to satisfy the Executive Order. We are proud that Hero Biobased Cleaning Products exceed these Federal Standards and are listed in the BioPreferred Program Database. Further, the USDA is in the process of finalizing the BioPreferred Labeling Program which Hero Biobased Cleaning Products will be certified to display. And many local governments are enacting similar biobased requirements for which Hero will provide compliance. Methyl esters in the range of C8 to C18 are practically non-toxic. Fatty Acid Methyl Esters do not deserve classification as carcinogens and the available evidence supports the safety of these materials. These substances were reviewed by the Structure Activity Team of EPA's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics and were judged to be of low concern for potential human health and/or environmental effects. The EPA has described vegetable esters as Designed for the Environment (DfE).
